I'm actually done with it. It supports rendering the following GRIB
weather information + animation + popup with weather info at the cursor
location:

I have uploaded a bunch of images showing a storm front hitting Western
Europe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xynthia_%28storm%29)

We have not yet decided what to do with the the code.
