[OpenMap Users] strait cartesian Strait Cartesian Coordinate System

Hello all,

I was wondering if OpenMap components could be used through a strait cartesian coordinate system, to use meters or nautic miles instead of Lat/Lon. I assume some work have already be done, adapting OpenMap components in that way, as I read it here : http://openmap.bbn.com/mailArchives/openmap-users/2004-10/3430.html

This would help me a lot.
