[OpenMap Users] editing a shape file

Hi,

I would like to edit a shapefile. I downloaded MapWindow application a nd
FGIS. They both require that the SHP file will have a matching DBF file, but
I cannot seem to find the DBF files provided with OpenMap.

1. Where can I get these DBF file? Or is there a workaround for using
the SHP files in these applications without the DBF files?
2. What applications seem to offer the easiest modifications of a
shapefile?
