[OpenMap Users] Some questions about Shape files

Hello, I have some questions regarding Shapefiles and OpenMap:

1) Is it possbile to generate a ESRI Shapefile with OpenMap?
2) Is is possible ot edit existing Shape files and store it (e.g. adding
points to an existing source)
3) Does somebody know sources of shapefiles which are available and free ...
or at least free for non-commericial usage?
