Hi Luke,

The com.bbn.openmap.layer.dted package was added to OpenMap in 1998,
before OpenMap was released to the public.

Earlier versions could display DTED images via a CORBA client-server
connection, using the com.bbn.openmap.layer.specialist package that is
being reinserted back into OpenMap for 4.6. The code that handled DTED
for the specialist server was written in C++ back in 1996 for the BBN
MATT program, the precursor to OpenMap.
