Everything is working fine and the layers repair. Performance suffers when
graphics overlap. For example say a plane flies from location A to location
B. No problem, unless you draw a line representing the flight path from A to
B. And really one line is not a problem it is when several planes fly
between A and B and each leaves a line. Then the more planes that fly, and
the more lines there are, then playback begins to bog down. Yes we could
draw only one line, but that is a bit difficult with the way the data is
being pulled from the database, plus it is nice to be able to select each
line and get information about the plane that flew over. Another example is
that aircraft tend to go to the same general area. When a swarm of planes
enter the area at the same time you notice it bog down as well.
I just wondered how it worked. There are techniques to explore to improve
performance when graphics overlap, but I'd be guessing which might work when
I don't know how it is done now.
Openmap is able to handle the animation pretty well (once I fixed the stupid
things our own code was doing), I'm just looking for ways to make it even
better.
