Hi Keith,

The MapHandler in the SimpleHttpImageServer does parse the request
format used for WMS (the SHIS format was set for this reason), but it
doesn't know how to handle all of the possible arguments that can be
specified in the WMS client request. It doesn't handle enough of them
to respond to a specific map request, actually. It shouldn't be a hard
thing to upgrade too, though. The request parameters are translated
into a Java Properties object, so its just a matter of interpreting
them correctly and responding in kind.

There also isn't support for handling the getCapabilities() query yet,
but I think the hooks are in the MapHandler.
