The shp file contains the geometry information letting you know where
to place the labels. The dbf file contains the attribute information
letting you know what the labels should read. The
com.bbn.openmap.dataAccess.shape.DbfTableModel will give you access to
the contents of the dbf file. If you want to know where to place the
files, you'll have to read the shp file.
