[OpenMap Users] Changing Length Units to KM

Hello,
     I am an OpenMap newbie still getting my head around property file
usage and such. I'm really impressed with the architecture and
oportunities to customise and extend. Congrats to bbn. :-)

I'd like to set the DistanceMouseMode to display distances in
kilometers. I can see how to do this programatically but would like to
use the properties files to do same.

The code (DistanceMouseMode.java) suggests:

  prefix.units= < name for Length.java (km, miles, meters, nm) >

I've tried a bunch of things along the lines of:

  distanceMouseMode.units=com.bbn.openmap.proj.Length.KM

and various permutations but without success (distance mouse mode is
included as a component and its .class is set) - miles are still displayed!

Any tips here? I guess the key is understanding the properties files...
