Perhaps someone has also been faced with this.
I have a shapefile set for US city data that I'm
sure many of you are using.
citiesx020
Using the properties file, I'd like to create a layer
that displays city names like the World Cities example
(with a LocationLayer and CSVLocationHandler) - but
make it "smart" in that it should at one scale (zoom)
it should only display very large cities (pop>1M) and
at a closer scale, more cities, and so on (much like
a ScaleFilterLayer).
Basically, a nice logical US Cities Layer that shows
say Chicago, L.A., and NYC when 'zoomed' all the way
out and Dirtwater, UT when 'zoomed' all the way in.
*) anyone else try this?
*) where could I find a US Cities file set in CSV format
(with the LAT/LON info in the CSV)
*) assuming I have such a US Cities CSV file, is this
possible (marrying LocationLayer & ScaleFilterLayer)
*) is there a better approach (wouldn't suprise me)
Thanks
