Hi Bart,
You could call renderDataForProjection() on the layers, in order, with
the current projection and a fake/small Graphics object. If the
layers/plugins are smart, they will only do the work if they need to,
and the cost of knowing that they are done it the cost of rendering
into the Graphics. But when you are done, you know they are all set.
