You also can just add the path to the share dir in Configure lib, so that it is simply addes to the CLASS_PATH...
It's also simple to recompile the complete OpenMap lib with JBuilder, at least with JB7e and JB8e as you can create a jb project from existing code. It may also be possible with the personnal versions, but I don't' have experience with it since JB3.5 or JB4 (I remember I succeeded in compiling OpenMap at that time with these free versions of JB...)
Hints :
- You need Batik (to include in configure/lib ...)
- You need to filter some packages in order not to compile the:
- the "unimplemented" projections
- the corba related stuff (or you need to have the required external libs)
- the J3D related stuff (ame remark)
Having OpenMap compiled withing JB is convenient for debugging....

Subject: Re: [OpenMap Users] Re:
look in the bin directory for "openmap.bat"
open it and edit the JAVABIN and OPENMAP_HOME
as for JBuilder, here's a simple way to run the openmap app
1. create a new empty project
2. go to Tools / Configure Libraries (similar to other's description below)
- create a New library folder, name it OpenMapOnly
3. go to Project / Project Properties
- under Paths tab, go to Required Libraries tab and Add the OpenMapOnly
4. at the top, go to Run tab
- click on New
- under the Run tab / Application tab, click the browse button of the "Main class:"
select com.bbn.openmap.app.OpenMap
5. that's it!!!!!!
- click Run Project and the OpenMap application will run
---- Problem ----
If you get errors like below it means you have to copy the share directory(layer data files) to your JBuilder project's working directory.
*** ERROR ***
ShapeLayer SpatialIndex: problem setting up the shape files:
shape file: data/shape/dcwpo-browse.shp
spatial index file: data/shape/dcwpo-browse.ssx

Houda ,
I am only using JBuilder 4, but I assume things are the same as far as
adding class paths. You just go into the Project menu, and then click on
Project Properties...
When the Properties window appears click on the Paths Tab and then click on
the Required Libraries Tab, the Add button, then New... button. In the next
window, type in a Name for the library. I use VisAD. Select a Location. I
use User Home. Then click on the Add button. Find the visad.jar file and
click on it and then click OK. Then back out of all the menus by hitting
the OK buttons on each menu.
That should do it. If you want the library to be present in all new
projects you create then you want to select the Default Project
Properties... instead of just Project Properties... from the Project menu.

Sounds like a classpath error, that the openmap.jar isn't getting added
to the classpath.
I don't use JBuilder, so I'll have to defer further debugging comments
to someone else on the list.
