look in the bin directory for "openmap.bat"
open it and edit the JAVABIN and OPENMAP_HOME

as for JBuilder, here's a simple way to run the openmap app
1. create a new empty project
2. go to Tools / Configure Libraries (similar to other's description below)
        - create a New library folder, name it OpenMapOnly
3. go to Project / Project Properties
        - under Paths tab, go to Required Libraries tab and Add the
OpenMapOnly
4. at the top, go to Run tab
        - click on New
        - under the Run tab / Application tab, click the browse button
of the "Main class:"
            select com.bbn.openmap.app.OpenMap
5. that's it!!!!!!
        - click Run Project and the OpenMap application will run

---- Problem ----
If you get errors like below it means you have to copy the share
directory(layer data files) to your JBuilder project's working directory.
*** ERROR ***
ShapeLayer SpatialIndex: problem setting up the shape files:
      shape file: data/shape/dcwpo-browse.shp
     spatial index file: data/shape/dcwpo-browse.ssx
