[OpenMap Users] method to determine if a (lat,lon) lies inside a polygon region?

I have the need to determine whether or not a given (lat,lon) position
is inside a polygon region on a map (OMPoly). I have used the extents
method of OMPoly to attempt this, however, for I have some very
irregular shaped polygon regions which extents will not corrected for
the "skewness" of this regions. Does anyone have any good ideas on how
to do this?
