We need to plot icons on the map where events took place. Nothing too
complicated. I have used JDBC once. I wanted to make sure that no one had
written a generic JDBC layer or plugin.

However, your example of using JDBC with OpenMap would be helpful. Thanks.

We are still in the evaluation phase and are not sure how we are going to
provide data (or to which GIS app).

Yes you can.
Could you please tell me what's the exact problem/thing you want
to do. Then i think i can provide you an example.

I for example, extract meteorological data with JDBC,
(DBLocationLayer) put it in a LocationLayer and plot it in the map.
