I have been thinking this up for awhile and have a plan but no code. My
plan is to extend OMRaster which takes an Image and enables it to an
OMGraphic type. This extended OMRaster's image will correlate to a
UNIT_TYPE field in the database. By extending OMRaster it will also
allow such things as holding the fields from the database for that unit
in memory in say a DBFTableModel or any TableModel for that matter.
Anyway, just some thoughts, it shouldn't be that hard to do.

Subject: [OpenMap Users] Mil-Std-2525 (or other) symbology

Has anyone implemented a military unit symbology class? I see the
"hooks"
in the documentation of such a class, but it is either not ready yet or
is
not being distributed with the OpenMap. We are exploring OpenMap as a
GIS
display system, but do not want to write what has already been written.
I
know BBN plans to add Mil-Std-2525 symbology, but I find it hard to
believe
that a user somewhere does not have something that will display military

unit icons, no matter how badly.
