Polygon Center Finding

Hi all!
        I'm working on getting text into my maps using the CSV handler. Things
are working well. Its now a matter of creating good CSVs. Currently I
am using some shapfiles that I have to suck data out of. My first try
was to label the continents in my map. As these are polygons I had to
figure out where I wanted the text to be located. Are there any snazzy
algorithms anyone can suggest. Is it easy to modify the text so that
its centered on the locaiton and not left justified to the location?
