Problem : points alignment discrepancy when zoom-in/out

Hello,
     I have a LinkServer which serves points from a database.
     I display these on a link layer in an applet with a shapefile based
layer showing a city map as background.

     When i zoom in / out, the distance between points and a location on
map changes, which appears as an
     error. When lat/long of a point and a location on map is same, this
discrepancy should not happen?

     Any help will be great.
