Hi Michael,
There are a couple of other things you can do as well, depending on how
you want to organize your data. Personally, I don't really delete RPF
data, so I merge all my files into one RPF tree, and then rebuild the
A.TOC file.
If you want to keep your data separated by disk, then the right thing to
do is what you ended up doing, as Karl suggested. If you start
referencing many RPF directories, however, performance in the layer will
suffer. There's a setup to avoid that: Set your RPF data up so that
your rpf disks are in separate directories. Then create another 'rpf
directory somewhere. The directories made from the disk data can be
inside it, or not, it doesn't matter. then, use the MakeToc class to
create a new A.TOC file, telling it to use complete filenames:
java com.bbn.openmap.layer.rpf.MakeToc -output <path to rpf directory
to place A.TOC> -absolute -paths <paths to rpf disk directories
containing data>
Then, for the layer, just reference the 'rpf' directory containing the
new A.TOC folder. The layer will use the data from all the directories
as needed, as if they were in one directory. It's much more efficient,
and worth doing if you have 3-4 or more RPF directories of data that
borders or overlaps each other.
FYI, all the people that are on the openmap@bbn.com mailing list are
also on the openmap-users@bbn.com mailing list, so you don't have to use
both. :)
Regards,
Don
