Looking at the code, it looks like it isn't set up to not have gif
images for the locations. That doesn't strike me as the correct
behavior. I thought that was simply an option, but I may be thinking of
the CSVLocationHandler.

I think you can extend the DBLocationHandler to have the particular
behavior you want, and to have it blow off creating the raw data
images. The more I think about it, the more I remember that is what I
expected people would do.

You do have to make sure that the LocationLayer using the
DBLocationHandler is set (via its properties) to display the names of
the locations. If you just want a simple dot and name, you can use the
BasicLocation in your LocationHandler for your data on the map.
