When looking into a similar situation last year I found the J-Integra site,

helpful in understanding what's out there in the way of commercial products for
integration Java with ActiveX, associated costs, etc. Not necessarily recommending
their product line, there are others to consider. Thought it might help if you
haven't seen it before.
