from the above "Message from the BBN OpenMap Team" (11/6/2001):

8) Integration of external packages
        • GML4java - this package, available on sourceforge, could be
          integrated to read GML documents. GML is the upcoming (and
          OGC-supported) standard for representing vector map data information.
        • Batik SVG - this package could be integrated pretty easily - the
          Batik package contains a SVG Graphics object, and that could be used
          inside a com.bbn.openmap.image.SVGFormatter to create SVG
          documents from an OpenMap map.
and

11) Integration of a MIL-STD-2525 icon library and icon
    builder/chooser. I would think this would be implemented as a service
    available via the MapHandler.

                          =========================

a) Is there any specific activity affecting OpenMap related to items
   8 and/or 11, above, which may become available in the next30-60 days?

b) Is the OpenMap Team aware of or possibly addressing SEDRIS defined
standards or interface "glue"?
