dbf format problem

Hi,
 i have a shape file and generated .ssx for it. I used AreaShapeLayer to
render the shape file because i needed
to show details of the points in the shape file like say cityname, etc. So
i converted associated dbf into csv file using Excel.
But i get an error that "citiesx020.csv: Don't have information for shape
record 18421" not found in .csv file for each record index in .ssx file.

Is there any standard layout of dbf file associated with shape file?
Can anyone send me a sample dbf file?
