Hi all,
I had written to this forum a little while ago. There had been some positive
solutions from Donald Dietrick. This is another question. The previous qn.
and the summary is attached at the bottom of this mail.
I have a small area of map, which I have projected using PolyConic
projection. How can I put it on OpenMap. The map area is very small, only
below 200 sq. km. I want it to be displayed using OM. But it doesnt center
and the pan options are confusing. When I pan NW, it goes SE. I tried
different projections.
To put it rather clearly,
1. I want the map, which is a city area, to show it in full extent.
2. I just want the map to be displayed as it is. plain. no projections.
3. I want to measure the distance from place to place.
Help me,
I wanted to get this thing going. After that I am going deep into the bean
and do some research. So this is something which I want to do as a basework.
TIA
Rajesh

Hi Rajesh,
We don't really have an equidistant projection - you could implement a
UTM projection, or look into the LambertConformalConic projection that's
in the com/bbn/openmap/proj/unimplemented directory. The latter mostly
works but the meters distance numbers aren't being calculated
correctly. The UTM projection is a desired addition to the OpenMap
library, but it's not on the schedule until it gets funding support.
Also, we are members of the OpenGIS Consortium, but they have only been
responsible for a small portion of OpenMap's development. BBN
Technologies provides the support for the program. :)
Hope this helps,
Don
