Representation of dbf content belonging to shapefiles

Hi All,

I have got a problem according to use dbf files belonging to ESRI
ShapeFiles.
I would like to show the names of cities which are in the dbf file
associated to
a shapefile. How can I use my dbf file? Is it possible to include the file
in any way using the openmap.properties?
I already converted the dbf into csv, but this doesnt make sense to me since
there
are not lat/lons in the dbf.
Don told me that it is possible to use the AreaShapeLayer, but I neither
know how
to use it, nor wether it is controllable via the properties file.
So how is it possible to use dbf files without lat/lon coords within OpenMap
