Sample code won't render...

Hello,

I was trying some tests using the basic sample programs included in
OpenMap 4.3, and I find that I cannot make the sample code (even
testing with SimpleMap) render any Shape files. I'm using The IBM
1.3 JDK on Linux.

If I use OpenMap 3.4, all works well, but using the libraries from 4.3
just displays a light blue canvas. Testing SimpleMap2 displays the
arches from RouteLayer, but nothing else.

Has anything changed in 4.3 that hasn't been "retrofited" into the
Sample programs?

Any ideas?
