Address -> coords

Hello,

I'm looking for some code that will convert Street Addresses to coordinates,
using data from the TIGER streets shapefile as a reference.

We already started writing this, but then it occured to me that someone
around here might already have such a beast. If not... would this be
something that OpenMap might want as a contribution? or is it too much
of a side-project to belong to the OpenMap package?
