shape files

Dear all,

---The problem---
I´m having trouble plotting some maps in shape format.

---How i´m working---
I´ve got a large library of MapInfo MIF files (maps), but the MifLayer seems to bee slower than the ShapeLayer.
So the MIF files were converted to Shape files (*.shp and *.shx) using ArcView mifshape utility.
I´ve added the converted Shape files to the openmap.properties file.

---What´s happening---
The ShapeLayer only plots the Shape files when the zoom is very far.
When i try a zoom in, the map disappear with no error message. When i switch back to a zoom out, the map is plotted again.

--The environment--
I´m using Win2k, JDK1.3.1, NetBeans IDE 3.2, OpenMap 3.6.2, OpenMap 4.0, OpenMap 4.1 and OpenMap 4.2.1.

---The shape files---
The Shape files could be openned and edited using ArcView GIS 3.2 with no problem.
(That´s why i think the "problem" is in the ShapeLayer)

--How to solve the problem---
Does anybody have any idea of what shoul be done to fix this?
